Mad Quickies: The Trolls, The Opulence, The Egg, The Wacky Dogs and More!

So, I just read that the Evil Leadership in the White House announced today that they are “rescinding conservation rules requiring energy-saving light bulbs.” LIGHT BULBS. Because every dick and harry running industries that predated conservation—these wankers have to get their piece of the Trumpian pie. Before I turn this into a rage-blog, I’m looking up self-care … hold on … I see something nice.

Some of these tips are obvious, and yet it’s good to be reminded that simply recalibrating can take the edge off.

21 Free (and Inexpensive) Self Care Ideas

“…stress management and lifestyle play just as significant a role, but relaxation and balance are so quickly forgotten when life gets busy. This article rounds up 21 self care ideas that are easy to fit into your day, and won’t cost you much time or money.”

Self-care is so utterly important anymore. It is, as little Robot points to the post-it, URGENT.

When you click on this Tale of Trolls, you might not know what to make of it immediately—plus the scroll involves a poetic stroll through the images. My advice is to just go with it. Lovely and amazing!

The Tale of the 7 Trolls and the Magical Tower of Belgium

“Thomas Dambo is a self-proclaimed ‘recycle art activist’ based in Copenhagen, Denmark. His larger-than-life public sculptures are made and ‘upcycled’ from found and discarded materials and his works can be found across the globe.

His latest work, The 7 Trolls and the Magical Tower, can be found at De Schorre Provincial Park in Boom, Belgium.”

This looks super cool and right now what I would give to be running around an art installation…

This 20,000 Square Foot Immersive Art Environment Is Now Open In Santa Fe, New Mexico

“Meow Wolf, a strong artist collective has opened the doors to a new immersive art environment. The House of Eternal Return is a 20,000 square foot role-playing installation located in an abandoned bowling alley in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The environment serves as a unique combination of art exhibition, fantasy world, jungle gym, and children’s museum where you are allowed to interact with anything and everything!”

I try to share with you important works that might have some relevance in your lives or information that is activism-related, but honestly I’m sharing this because once in a while you just need to see things that make your eyes and mind happy for no particular reason. And this is that thing. It is beyond fairy-tale opulent.

Fantastical Photographs of Opulently Dressed Models in Castles and Mansions

“Photographer Natalie Lennard, who works as Miss Aniela, creates lavish scenes centered around elegantly dressed models. While each image might seem, at first glance, like a straightforward luxury fashion shoot, further inspection reveals surreal details. A canary yellow tulle gown morphs into birds, and ocean water splashes out of a painting frame.”

Read about this incredible ice at Laughing Squid and watch the video there or below. There is so much more at the article, though., including a click to the soundtrack. Andy Weir wrote The Martian and that’s almost all the reason you need to click this.

A Gorgeous Kurzgesagt Animation of the Profound Short Story ‘The Egg’ by ‘The Martian’ Author Andy Weir

“In a wonderful departure from their insightful scientific series, the very talented animators at Munich design house Kurzgesagt brought the rather profound (and timely) short story “The Egg” by Andy Weir (The Martian) to colorful life. This project took almost two years to make.”

50 Times Dogs Managed To Fall Asleep In Hilariously Awkward Positions

We just don’t deserve dogs. And certainly not when they are being incredible doofuses when asleep.

The little robot in the image was create by my friend Tom Doerfler. Follow Tom on instagram because he has awesome dogs, is a talented designin’ mofo, and has too many cool ideas for his own good.
