- A truly extraordinary body of work by Greg Dunn who has a Ph.D. in neuroscience and a love of Asian art. His organic paintings are a delicate amalgam of neuron trees and a sumi-e calligraphic style. {thanks to Brandy J}
- We happen to think that quite a lot of these Proposed New Holidays for 2012 should officially be on the calendar. Excellent list. {thanks to Victor}
- The coolest thing you’ll see all day: Mohamed Babu’s translucent ants photographed eating colored liquids. Also, the site, Colossal, has become our new time sink. {thanks to Surly Amy and Heather D}
- From the beautiful to the truly bizarre: Vintage Tolkien Covers from Around the World.
- It might be cold comfort, but the Royal Mail will issue a commemorative stamp in Alan Turing’s honor. This comes in the wake of a 2009 apology from Gordon Brown acknowledging the huge debt owed Turing. Indeed.
Macro, math, the moon and more…
- Shikhei Goh picked up a DSLR in March 2011 and has been making astounding images ever since. He claims to love macro and this image in particular clearly shows his skill and sensitivity. {from nowoo}
- Lillian Rosanoff Lieber’s The Einstein Theory of Relativity: A Trip to the Fourth Dimension, available in paperback, is an eccentrically illustrated delight. This is a great feature at 50 Watts on her art.
- Moon calendars by Jeremy Rendina.
- Michael Chrisman took a single photograph of the Toronto skyline exposed though every second of 2011. You can find other photos by Chrisman on flickr.
Doodling in Math: Spirals, Fibonacci, and Being a Plant [1 of 3]
{thanks to Anne S}
