Sunday Morning Illusion

These are two identical photographs of the Leaning Tower of Pisa but they look like they’re leaning in different directions.

The short reason is that they do not have a common vanishing point so our brain assumes that they are not parallel. The long reason can be found in this PDF by the researchers that first described the phenomenon.
