Mad Quickies
Mad Quickies: dognition, the baby tree, a phantom limb and more
It’s the Weekend Quickies. Cocktails down; surf’s up!
- A movement in the making: the unveiling of Iranian women was started by Iranian journalist Masih Alinejad.
- National Geographic ran a feature eons ago recommending that the answer to furthering cognitive science is pretty much in our own backyard. And here we are: And the Dog Has His Day is a fascinating, extensive piece on the dog’s new role in cognitive science. {via Surly Amy}
- Paul Kellogg founded Survey Graphic. Published for a socially conscious audience, this was a journal that was years ahead of its time. The Role of Women was released December 1926. Interestingly, some of the same issues are still discussed.
- Tattooed porcelain figures comprise the latest series called “Flash” by artist Jessica Harrison. {via Surly Amy}
- Artists Edwige Massart and Xavier Wynn created medical diagram portraits from found objects. So wonderful!
- The Baby Tree by illustrator Sophie Blackall is a sweet and honest primer on how to answer the question that stumps every grownup.
- Landmark looks like an exceedingly cool game, now in closed beta. An explanatory video is included. {via CriticalDragon1177}

Donna,
Glad you liked it. I knew you guys would think it looked cool after I saw what Brian George did with Mine craft.
Actually you can already play Landmark if you’re willing pay enough money. It is still in its closed Beta testing phase however,

What do think you’d build with it?
That Phantom Limb, was pretty weird. I really like the ending through.
Hmmm, that didn’t work out the way I expected it to, I though it would make the dragon image my avatar.
