Mad Quickies 1.20
It’s the Friday Quickies! Today we’re reporting on a bunch of things, so let’s break it down, shall we?
- Rhys Morgan, a 17-year-old skeptic and journalist, took a stance on the Jesus and Mo comic controversy. And this is the maelstrom that resulted. Well done, Rhys! Our hats are off to you here at the Lab! {via fordprefect}
- On January 18th, Jesus and Mo dedicated that day’s post to “Rhys Morgan, Jessica Ahlquist, One Law for All, and Salman Rushdie. Heroes, all.” Indeed they are.
- Here’s something we’re excited about: the new Make: Talk podcast! For their first episode, the Maker is Steve Hoefer of Grathio Labs. Super cool!
- Abandoned Taiwanese military barracks are transformed into a Rainbow Village. View even more images of this beauteous project at Poemas del río Wang.
- In which the world is a masterpiece. At Wondermark. {via Steve D}
More cool stuff after the jump…plus vids!
- This? This is library porn to us. We think you might lust after it, too.
- And speaking of porn, Tom the Dancing Bug provides this handy Sex-Act Morality Flow Chart for your edification.
- Here’s an excellent resource. AMIEN provides information about art materials. The data is science-based, researched and peer-reviewed. {via Brian G}
- Troubleshooting and TERRORISTS! {via Steve D}
Two very special videos for you…

Chris Jordan: Picturing excess

“Artist Chris Jordan shows us an arresting view of what Western culture looks like. His supersized images picture some almost unimaginable statistics—like the astonishing number of paper cups we use every single day.”
The long-awaited documentary, Linotype: In Search of the Eighth Wonder of the World debuts at SVA in Manhattan February 3rd. It’s the first film by a young designer and letterpress printer and clearly a labor of love and respect.
