Scenes from a MAL: FLAVABOOM!
The Mad Art Lab backchannel is a treasure trove of information, resources and goofiness. Sometimes mostly goofiness. Here’s an excerpt from last week:

Imma treat you all to a little Flavaboom
BOOM!

I…
what?

I CAN SMELL THE FLAVOR
From: Brian G
Anne: I have no idea. I walked past it on 6th Ave in Manhattan and had to share it. Frozen yogurt maybe? Or cocaine. It looks like the kind of place that would sell little bumps of coke in sleek, ultra-modern vials.
Maria: SMELL THE SLEEKNESS

BOOM
From: Anne
My guess from the name was frozen yogurt, but from that photo I feel like it’s a place I’d go if I wanted to have an android replica of myself built. And then the people who built it would replace me with it. I realize that’s kind of involved but THAT’S JUST HOW I FEEL.
From: Brian
I believe that would be accurate as well.
From: Maria
I cannot stop laughing at Anne’s FEELINGS. Sorry 🙂
From: Anne
I know. Feelings have no place in skepticism.
But we’re artistes, right? Don’t we get some kind of exception?
😉
From Steve D
Sure, but it’s the best evil android replica / frozen yogurt shop in New York.
From: Amy
Tell Anne to be quiet. SHE NO LONGER EXISTS.
From: Maggie
I guess we need another clone to replace her… again.

VIVA BUFFALO BILL THE PROXY MOUSE!
From: Brian G
Ugh. How many times has this been now? Last time, Maki lost Anne at the Grand Canyon after he just haaaaaad to pull over to admire the view. I am NOT chipping in for a new Anne this time.
From: Amy
We HAVE to get a new Anne. She has ALL the recipes programmed!
From: Anne
Hi! I’m Proxy Anne. My favorite yogurt shop is Flavaboom! I have titanium alloy squirrel bones.
From: Amy
Hooray!
From: Donna
I think this speaks for itself.
From: Amy
Is that a Surly?
From: Maggie
Mystery solved! It’s Flava-Flav-Boom!
Also, Brian, let’s be honest. Maki didn’t exactly lose Anne Clone #12 at the Grand Canyon so much as he lost Anne Clone #12 _in_ the Grand Canyon.
From: Brian
Well as long we’re being honest, Maggie, where exactly did you lose Anne Clone #7 again? Hmmm…?
2 Days later:

Kelly and I went to a gallery opening tonight and I snapped a couple of pics you all might like.
Right next to the gallery was a Tesla Motors showroom:
As we walked to the subway, we went passed Jim Kemper Gallery, home of Tardy the Man-Pony and the Spaceship Parking:

That’s all well and good and lovely. But no Flavaboom.
Pffffffft.
From: Brian
Damn. That’s some cold shit.

Boy, was that a fun day.
It is strange that that store gives you so little information about what they actually do in there. Thanks for the giggle.
It’s people! Flavaboom is made from people!
