Mad Quickies 2.3
I’m not gonna lie. There might be just way too much here for one bag o’ Quickies. That’s a win for you because between the anatomical wax models and things being lit on fire and blown up to make art, there’s more than enough here for you to successfully procrastinate whatever you were just doing. Enjoy!
- Velociraptor! Cannibalism! is a card game of survival, mutation, and the occasional volcano. Meat the Characters! Heh. Sparklecorn probably knows Iggy and Sprinkles.
- Simply Add Boiling Water by the fabulous Sheila O’Malley, after a visit to the Weegee exhibit.
- Hauntingly beautiful Gifs of 1920s Coney Island, taken from a clip of “Speedy”, 1928.
- At La Specola, scroll down to view the anatomical wax models touted as the best collection of its kind in the world. The models are so arresting since they’re in states of repose. And cross-sectioned. Have a better look at flickr and read more about it at the My Favorite Museum series and Aphrodites of the Operating Theater.
KA-BLAM! And then you got some art right there. So jump already.
- Galactron cortex axis pub, universe of terror, zone of ultimate power … argument from personal incredulity. Also, mouseover! {thanks to Steve D}
- Order of the Stick breaks Kickstarter records!
- Crowdfunding: Kickstarter brings risky game ideas to life
- Meat stadiums. That is all. {via Steve D}
- Watchmen prequels and a sneak peek at the Ozymandias cover.
- Gross! And yet cool. A multi-tasking Zombie pencil holder.
- Welcome to another spin through library-type pr0n: 20 of the world’s most beautiful bookstores.
- A robot makes abstract paintings. And what have you done today?
- Cool, science-y screenprints of charts and diagrams. {thanks to r.bins}

Steve Tobin lights up a stick of dynamite and makes art. Some of the pieces are small and some of the work is pretty big.
See?
Steve Tobin. Bang!
and
Exploded Earth

Then there’s Steven Spazuk and he likes to light his canvases on fire.

Wow, totally unexpected mention here!
Thanks for the press! The raptors will be so thrilled.
Some other great stuff you found too, I’ll have to dig through it all later.
I also totally read it as “anatomical wax models being lit on fire and blown up to make art” which sounded so awesome (I was less excited to find that they were two things, rather than one, but no less cool).
Best of luck to you with your project! And may Kickstarter bring you a ton of moolah. Those velociraptors are so cuddly.
As for the wax models, I like your idea better. Now that would be cool.
We’re hoping!
And I think they’re cute too.
(Iggy: I am NOT cute.)
Webcomic! We want it!
I’ll do you one better: a couple of semi-animated shorts.
The art is going to be light, as to not put too much strain on our artist, but otherwise in the vein of those D&D 4E “interviews” Wizards did. She’s done some work for the Dresden RPG and Mortal Coil, but she is practically working for free at the moment.
Already have about half of the audio back from a couple of volunteer voice actors.
I’ll let you know when they get posted, although they’re sure to show up on our wordpress!
Hey Amy! I think maybe your next project should be ‘Sploding Surlies.
Love it!. Well, she’s already lighting things on fire so it seems like explosions are next.

Thanks so much, again, for time in your spotlight.
And one last update:
We hit our goal *and then some* so physical copies are available.
Pushing $10,000 raised: what a response!
