Things are scary in the USA right now and it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the constant barrage of executive orders and new laws soon to be affecting human rights and health particularly for women, but a few good activists have told me to keep just a few topics and focus on them so I don’t get overwhelmed. I’m going to try to do that.
I think one topic or one thing we have to remember, we have to hold up with pride, we have to protect, we have to fight for, and we have to use to the very best of our potential, is our First Amendment Rights. Already laws are being drawn up to try to call protests “economic terrorism” in order to chip away at our freedom to have “peaceful” protests. These same laws are also being drafted to say basically it’s ok to run into someone WITH A CAR if they block a road as a protest. This shit is NOT ok. It’s one step away from mowing people down in the streets with tanks, cuz OOPS, they were in the way. In Louisiana they are saying that if you resist arrest you can be charged with a hate crime. They are calling this obvious racially motivated law, “Blue Lives Matter.” This is the Trump regime fighting back violently and unconstitutionally at black protesters from the Black Lives Matter movement. A police officer can say ANYONE is RESISTING ARREST. How can you prove otherwise? And guess what white ladies? It’s our fight now too. Welcome to the party. It’s time to resist and join with the black communities. Sucks that it took something this drastic to wake people up, but here we are.
I have printed the First Amendment here, in a very simple fashion, to help you remember, and help others remember what those rights are and why they are so incredibly important. This is one thing we must fight to protect. This is what may help us. This is what might legally keep us free.
I made this into shirts and other stuff in my redbubble shop. If you want to share it with your friends that would be great! The link is here: Surlyamy.redbubble .com
