Producer of Pop Songs Releases a Pop Song about Making Pop Songs

Thank you to Kate Christian for making my morning with this video.

Last year, Josh Ramsay — the composer and producer of such pop gems as Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” — and his band Marianas Trench created a pop song and accompanying video that explains how to write a catchy pop song. As many listeners may have guessed, there’s a lot of simplification that goes into writing such a song: “dumbed down they won’t ignore us” and “quick now, fill in the gaps, water it down” are key steps in the process.

The video is hilarious, yet so snappily produced that it begs to be added to my workout playlist. Enjoy!
