Mad Quickies

Mad Quickies: Ice Cream Science, Radical Posters, Underground Libraries and More!

Hey gang, it’s mid-week. We’ve made it this far, so I’ve cooked up these Quickies to propel us the rest of the way towards the weekend. Also, I’m missing the US vs. Germany in a World Cup elimination match right now, SO YOU HAD BETTER APPRECIATE THIS.

I’ve missed my calling – This restoration of a 355 year-old painting at The Metropolitan Museum of Art is something that I should be doing. Because art restoration is rad.

You know how much we love weird libraries here at The Lab? Well look at this. LOOK AT IT. (I’m sorry to yell, but really, LOOK AT IT)

I just discovered this podcast today and listened to a bunch of them. It’s called Meanwhile in the Future and it’s hosted by the super-cool Rose Eveleth. The premise is this: Take one potential future scenario- say, for instance, space pirates put a second moon into orbit around the Earth – and try to work out how that future would look. It’s really good.

It’s the perfect time of year to enjoy some ice cream (actually, any time is good for that) but here’s a video on how to MAKE ice cream using some… different… methods (and also the regular method).

Dispatches from the Montreal Street Art Festival! Murals!

Oh this is the coolest – a digital archive of the oldest collection of radical posters.
