Kitchen Lab: Independence from the Kitchen Day

‘MERICA! (from cappers.grit.com)

Dear readers. By the time you see this, I will have left the state. I will not be in my kitchen burning myself on impossible items, or making messes and spilling things on my cats. Lo, I will be at Skepchickcon! Glory be!

To appease you not only for my current absence but also for posting out of schedule last week (even though it was a BONUS EXTRA KITCHEN LAB POST, you ingrates), I will share with you some of the more entertaining food-y type blogs I have come across in my travels.

Motherf$cking Recipes

Holy of holies, this is the poop.

Sample instructions:
FOR SOME ADDED SWEETNESS ON YOUR DELIGHTFUL DISH, GRAB ¼ CUP OF YOUR FINEST BROWN SUGAR, IN YOUR FISTS. RAISE IT TO THE SKY AND SUMMON KUZCO TO BLESS YOUR KITCHEN WITH HIS HELLA-BOSS DANCE MOVES AND LLAMA POWERS. WHIP OUT MJOLNIR AND FLY TO THE STORE, TO COLLECT 1 CAN OF PINEAPPLE CHUNKS AS THE FINAL TOUCH. SHOVE EVERYTHING IN A PLASTIC BAG, SHAKE IT VIOLENTLY, THEN LET IT SIT FOR AN HOUR!

Yes, everything is basically in all caps. Because of reasons.

Sauced

Cooking with booze. ‘Nuf said. Not the most prolific blog ever, but pretty much full of winners. Mango Pineapple Jack Daniels BBQ Sauce? Indeed. RumChata French Toast? Yes, please!

Hugs & Cookies

Although this one runs a bit heavy on the pink hearts and exclamation points, it’s got photos that look both good AND like you might be able to do that yourself.

Sweets with Sara

Ok, so this is totally a plug for a new blog from a friend of a friend (of Jamie!), but she’s made rice krispy treats with leftover Peeps and about eleventeen recipes using champagne. I wholeheartedly approve!

Got any more good ones? New recipes I should try burning myself on? Let me know, I’ll be back on the 8th!

Beth Voigt

Beth is a graphic designer in Chicago, a superhero in her own mind, and absolutely nothing on TV. She wrangles fonts professionally, pummels code amateurishly, and has been known to shove fire in her face for fun. Fond of volunteering, late-night bursts of productivity, and making snacks, she dislikes grocery shopping and sticky public transit and is only on her second smartphone. Her opinion is that you should try everything twice; if you don't like it, you were probably doing it wrong the first time around. If external links are your thing, here are links to Twitter and Instagram, and you can support her ongoing weirdness by buying her a coffee or six.
