WIP Weekend: Supergirl

I’m working on a Supergirl costume right now. I’ve never worked with spandex in a serious way before, so I’m learning a lot. I also plan to make the “S” crest on the chest out of cast silicone.

I made what I thought would be the mold for it last weekend, but I also made something of a rookie mistake. See if you can spot it.

A mold for a supergirl crest.

Yeah, that’s right, I forgot to mirror the mold. Fortunately it was made on a CNC router so I just have to flip it and run it again, but I feel pretty silly.

I cast one anyway to test my materials and colors. Ignoring that it’s messy, I think it’s a solid proof of concept.

First cast of a supergirl crest.
