ArtDrawingPolitics

Trumpet, Liberty and Game on

I feel like politics pose a threat to science, and to a lot of good people, so I’m still working my way through that and trying to figure out what my role as an artist in this type of climate should be.

This first illustration is obviously based on the famous “The Treachery of Images” painting by the Belgian surrealist painter René Magritte. His text read, “this is not a pipe” and was more a commentary on art and the art-world itself. My piece reads, “this is not the land of the free.” I’m not sure why French keeps creeping into my brain but it just seems to work with my illustrative thoughts. Hope you enjoy this work and that you find some meaning in it and maybe a quiet moment of calm contemplation before the New Year.

My second illustration marks my attitude towards the New Year and the incoming government. Whatever happens, I am ready to fight for freedom and civil rights. Game on.

Be safe out there and Happy New Year.
