Tribute: The Fukushima 50

“Retreat is unthinkable.”

Between all the bible thumping, the end-calling, the weird Pearl Harbor revenge gloating, the homeopathic scamming, the futile misplaced wishes, the unheard pleas to deaf and impotent deities, the nuclear scare mongering, and the apathy towards those who are not called “Me”, “Myself”, or “I”, there are people out there, trying to do something about it.

They have no names, their true numbers are unknown*, and these few risk everything for the good of many. They represent all people, who in their bravery, altruism, and outright gumption, spite those who would claim the human being is a selfish, immoral monster in times of crisis.

Do not go gentle into that good night...

*It is estimated that 530 technicians, scientists, and workers have joined the original 50 essential personnel who stayed behind at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant since the March 11th earthquake off the coast of Japan.

  1. Why don’t they just pray? Oh, wait a minute, do you mean they actually mean to DO something to alleviate the situation, instead of wringing their hands and calling out to sky daddie??

I think these people should be celebrated as the heroes they are. I think their families should be supported by their government, so they will not fall into poverty if their loved one dies in this very important service to their country.
