Memorial Day

For those of you who do not live in the USA, Memorial Day is meant to honor and remember the men and women who have given their lives in the fight for freedom in our country. The paintings I do of birds, to me, symbolize freedom and escape, and so I thought this weekend would be a fine time to share my three newest pieces.
We live in a bitter time in America. Those who believe in truth, justice, compassion and freedom are being tested daily. It’s a scary time that I hope we will survive. May these paintings serve as reminder that the world is larger than a president’s twitter feed and that those who have given their lives in pursuit of freedom and true justice are the real heroes that we choose to remember. Their fight is now everyone’s fight. And when the hatred and the battles seem overwhelming, please accept these images as a calm center in the storm and a peaceful place to escape to, at least for a moment.
Hang in there soldiers of today, we are with you, and hats off in a moment of silence, for those who have already flown away.
