Mad Quickies: Cheese Curl Pareidolia, How to Have Cybersex in 1997, Soap Bubble Planets and More!

It’s Friday again and, as usual, I’ve spent the entire week searching for links to showcase the creativity of humans and certain cheese curls. Cheese curls can do all sorts of things, as you will see below.

Ceramic artist Paul Cummins and stage designer Tom Piper conceived of an installation of 888,246 ceramic poppies around the Tower of London in commemoration of British and colonial fatalities of World War I. From Colossal: “Volunteers began placing the poppies several weeks ago and the process will continue through the summer until a final flower is symbolically planted on November 11th. You can read more about the project over on the Historic Royal Palaces website, and see the volunteers’ progress by following the #TowerPoppies hashtag on Twitter.” -Via Anne

The Rosetta spacecraft is set to launch a probe into Comet Churyumov–Gerasimenko in just a few days. This adorable animation from the European Space Agency lays out the history of comet discovery and exploration. -Also via Anne

From Laughing Squid: “Lady Things is a wonderfully odd 2009 portrait series by artist Robyn Cumming featuring models obscured with flowers, frilly fabric, flowing hair, and other feminine objects.”

Oof. These close-up photographs of soap-bubbles-as-planets by photographer Santiago Betancur Z are exquisite.

This video featured by the Found Footage Festival purports to be from a 1997 VHS tape on How to Have Cybersex. I can’t decide if I believe it’s real or not. Regardless, it is amazing. Sorta, kinda NSFW. Video also posted below.

Bonus video! When you attached a GoPro camera to the wheel of your car and go for a drive – a kaleidoscope-ish, dizzying whirl of color.

Yeah. I just… I don’t know. It’s so great.
