I listened to NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio’s State of the City address this morning. His push for more affordable housing now includes 1,500 live/work spaces for artists to be built over the next 10 years.

Artist John Grade recently unveiled his enormous sculpture of a 140-year-old hemlock tree at MadArt (what?!) in Seattle. With the help of volunteers he recreated a hollow version of the tree, using plaster casts of the actual tree, out of hundreds of thousands of small wood blocks. It’s so beautiful you guys.
