Mad Art Lab Logo Contest: The Reckoning!

At the start of this month, we announced the creation of Mad Art Lab along with a contest to create the new MAL logo. We weren’t sure what kind of results we’d get, but we thought it would be a great way to interact with our skeptical artist readers.

Well, the results were fantastic! It was a tough decision, but we’ve chosen a winner. Congrats to Julianne Harnish:

Julianne’s work appealed to us for a number of reasons: the simplicity, the ease with which we can play with the colors, the reference to street art, and most of all the opportunity to have an awesome little lab rat mascot who we can name and love and care for.

We liked so many of the other logos, though, that we decided to show them all off here and give a Surlyramics necklace to everyone who entered! Check them out:

  4. You know, my entry has easily edited colors, was made in MS Paint – which has spraypaint and therefore references street art, and has an awesome little mascot.

AND MY MASCOT COMES WITH A CATCHY PHRASE!

I also noticed the other Elyse did not win. I demand an investigation.

  5. Wow, Skepchicks. Tough call. They were all great, but I think you chose well. Keep some of the others in reserve, though, for special occasions/prizes/Surlies!

  6. I love them all. Thanks to everyone who participated. Keep your eye on the mail in a week or so for your Surly Amy thank-you box!

  7. The new logo is excellent! Congrats to the winner(which I guess is both the artist and this blog!). I love the blue popping against the black.
I’m happy to see the other entries represented as well. It’s always nice to find other passionate artists. 🙂
