Mad Art Cast Episode #14 — Birdman!

It’s time for yet another episode of Mad Art Cast!

On this week’s episode, the hosts talk about the award-winning film Birdman. SPOILERS AHOY! We get into the nitty gritty about what defines real theater, what the film’s fantastical scenes really meant, and why the hell a movie with so many women in it didn’t manage to pass the Bechdel test (or did it?).

We also saw parallels between it and other films. Amy thought it was a lot like Fight Club. A was reminded of the recent Robert Redford flick All is Lost, and also thought everybody who thinks a blockbuster film actor can’t have credibility should see the luminous documentary Side by Side by — who else? — Keanu Reeves. (We might do an episode about this documentary. Stay tuned.)

We also answer other questions, such as why A has three frenula and Amy has two refrigerators.

Then, we share an EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with our very own Mad Art Lab contributor (and cosplayer, and engineer, and materials scientist, and anything else you can probably imagine) Ryan Consell about cosplay and the math and science that goes into it.
