Lab Track: There Is No God

I often get uncomfortable with posting so many atheist-bent tunes as lab tracks, but I suppose I can’t really help it. More people write songs about religion than they do about logical fallacies or astronomy or chemical reactions. I’d imagine this is because god is an emotional topic, much like love and breakups and heartache.

But I digress. Today’s track is from the band Mrs. Magician, a relatively new outfit that the LA Times says sounds as if “Brian Wilson had never made a teenage symphony to God and instead was a happy-go-lucky atheist.” Blasphemous beach rock! What more could you want?

There is No God
Mrs. Magician

You’re all gonna die
But does it make you wanna cry
To know that I’m gonna live forever
Because you never looked me in the eye

There’s no god
There’s no god
There’s no god
There’s no god

Now, do what you are told
And I’ll comfort your aching souls
Sugar tastes so sweet
Off the bottom of my feet

There’s no god
There’s no god
There’s no god
There’s no god
