Happy Skull Appreciation Day!
We were recently informed by @hi_im_monkey that today, June 4, is Skull Appreciation Day. Let’s celebrate!
Skull Appreciation Day is the brainchild (skullchild?) of Noah Scalin of Skull-a-Day, a fantastic exploration of skull art and pareidolia that everyone should check out. If you live in Richmond, VA consider attending the official event at Gallery 5. For those of us that live in other parts of the world, consider this a skull appreciation open thread.
More skulls after the jump!

Donna found a cool skeletal font by photographer Francois Robert and wrote out the word “skulls:”
UPDATE: I had not read through the linked article until now, and I need to emphasize just how amazing this typeface is: the letters are photographs of formations of actual human bones. Hell yes.
I took this photo of pig skulls at a pork belly dinner in Houston:
Professor Donald Johanson with the Australopithecus skull he discovered in 1974 that belongs to the skeleton we call “Lucy:”
Do you guys have any skull art or inspiration to share? We’d love to see it in the comments!
