Death Watch

This past spring, the folks behind Machine Of Death – an anthology of stories centered around the idea in this comic – put out a call for submissions for the next book. They ended up with a stack of about 2,000 stories that they had to pare down to about 30. This week they started sending out rejection and acceptance emails. People whose stories were rejected have been posting theirs online and, if these are the ones that have been passed over, it’s pretty clear the book itself is going to be a fantastic read.

I’ve been watching Twitter to see what sort of stories have been posted. Here are some of the ones I found:

And here are the three I submitted: Impact, Meteor and Heart Attack.

If you find more or posted your own, please add them in the comments section.

  1. Great job Steve D! I read your story “Meteor” right away, as my short story is called “Asteroid”

I had seen your story’s title in the word cloud, and I was worried that we had had the same idea. Needless to say, we are miles apart! Your story is quite good 🙂

Anyone who would like an alternative view of what can be done with the idea can check out my story at:

I’m quite pleased to be reading so many quality stories that might have otherwise fallen by the wayside. Thanks to everyone for sharing.
