Comey Come On

Comey come on buddy, do the right thing! I have assumed since the beginning of this horrible downward spiral into the Trump presidency that the only way we will begin to see any push back from the GOP is if Trump starts back-stabbing the people who helped him. And FBI director James B. Comey seems to be the first publicized instance of that starting to happen.

It has been rumored/assumed that Comey helped get Trump elected by publicizing email leaks linked to Hillary Clinton at a pivotal moment in the election. Since that time, Comey and Trump have seemed quite friendly and pleased with one another. That is until Trump decided to go on an early morning Twitter rant a few days back accusing President Obama of wire-tapping the phones at Trump Tower and gathering info on Mr Trump. If this were true, it would mean that the FBI overstepped their bounds and that the President at the time is guilty of a felony. There are legal ways to obtain a warrant to wire-tap a citizen and it’s certainly plausible that the justice department had acquired a legal warrant- but that would have nothing to do with then President Obama.

A spokesperson for Obama had this to say about the claim :

“A cardinal rule of the Obama administration was that no White House official ever interfered with any independent investigation led by the Department of Justice as part of that practice, neither President Obama nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any U.S. citizen,”

Comey has requested that the justice department reject Trump’s wiretapping claim but as of the writing (and drawing) of this, it has yet to occur.

Comey said during a talk today that we are stuck with him for the remainder of his ten year assignment, that’s six years. One hopes that he will use the next few months at the very least to help put our country back on track.

Do the right thing Comey. Come on.
