California gets SkeptiCAL

Northern California was once home to the hippie invasion where the mantra was, turn on, tune in and drop out. But some of us think that the new mantra should be, turn on, tune in and WISE UP! And that is the mindset that the wonderful organizers at SkeptiCAL Con in Berkeley, California plan to promote.

What makes this conference even better than last year, you ask?

I will be on stage!

It’s true!

Due to some terrible mistake or brilliant foresight on behalf of the organizers, I have been asked to moderate a panel on art and skepticism. There will be some wonderful Mad Art Labbers on the panel with me as well. Skeptic poet and baker, Victor Harris will join us. Raven Hanna, who is a jewelry designer with a PhD in molecular biophysics & biochemistry will be there. Photographer, podcaster and drink maker extraordinaire, Sasha Pixlee will join us too! It promises to be a lively and entertaining discussion about why art is so very important to the growth of the skeptical movement and in science communication.

More brilliant artists for the panel discussion will be announced soon and you can check out the other fantastic speakers scheduled for the event here.

Get your tickets here and get them soon. Word is the conference is expected to get twice as many attendees as last year and may sell out soon! Woohoo!

See you in Berkeley!
